Following completion of her residency program in Family Medicine at the Rockyview Hospital in 1992, Dr. Stokes spent four years working in Yellowknife, N.W.T. This was a very rewarding and challenging experience providing family medical and prenatal/obstetrical care to the far northern communities. Dr. Stokes returned to Calgary in 1996 and has had a family medical practice with obstetrical priviledges at the Rockyview Hospital for the past 16 years.|
Dr. Astrid Tupper
|Dr. Astrid Tupper’s first career was in basic science and medical research. She spent many years working as a “lab rat” in cancer research labs in Edmonton, Toronto and Switzerland. Although this work was very rewarding and important, she knew it was not where she was meant to be in her life. She quit working in labs when pregnant with her first child. After giving birth in Calgary, delivered by her own family doctor, she was inspired to enter medical school. Dr. Tupper wanted to share the miracle of birth with other families and help them to have the wonderful and safe birthing experience she had with her own GP. She went through medical school with one child and finished residency training as the parent of two children. In her first year of practice she had her third child. Juggling a busy family with a medical career is challenging, but she feels the reward is the honour of sharing each family’s joy as they welcome a new baby into their lives. Each birth still touches her deeply. Dr. Tupper delivered her first baby in 1999. She estimates that she has safely delivered around 1000 babies. She has been part of “Glenmore Maternity” since its inception in 2003.|
Dr. Katrina Kelly
|Katrina Kelly (MD CCFP MIR BScH) is new to the team at Glenmore Maternity. She is a 2015 graduate of the Urban Family Medicine residency program and a 2013 graduate of medical school at the University of Calgary. Following her family medicine residency, she went on to pursue an extended skills program in Maternal and Newborn Care, having finished in January 2016. Caring for pregnant mothers and newborns is one of her passions in the realm of family medicine, and she feels privileged to be a part of such beautiful and life-affirming moments as those that occur during labour and delivery. In addition to family medicine, she also enjoys caring for inpatients at the Rockyview Hospital. She is a lifelong Calgarian, however she did spend a short while in Kingston, Ontario, to attend Queen’s University and obtain an undergraduate degree in Life Sciences and mix it up with a Master’s degree in Industrial Relations. She is an avid traveller and enjoys balancing her work life with hobbies such as cooking, hiking, and sharing pictures of her nieces and nephew. If you ever need to track her down, there is a good chance you will find her out for a run at the Glenmore Reservoir with her partner, Mike.|
Dr. Malgorzata Ejsmont
|Dr. Malgorzata (Mal) Ejsmont is a medical graduate from the University of Alberta and then completed her residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Calgary. Most of her practice is comprised of prenatal and obstetrical care in Calgary as well as working as a locum within family practice. When she's not working in the clinic or hospital, travel and the outdoors are the biggest draw. Whether it's running, hiking or snowboarding, she's grateful to be living so close to the Rockies.|
